Barnardo’s seeks Campaigns and Public Affairs Officer

Barnardo’s 3-5y Mid Level  Ilford, England, United Kingdom 12 Feb 2018

Job Description

Campaigns and Public Affairs Officer

Do you have what it takes to develop campaigns for the UK’s largest children’s charity that will transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people?

At Barnardo’s, we believe in children. Our purpose is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo’s dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need. Making that happen means effecting positive change in external policy, practice and public opinion. It means motivating existing and new supporters to take action as we drive the wellbeing of children, young people and their families to the top of the agenda.

It’s an exciting time to join the Public Affairs and Campaigns Team as we develop our new influencing strategy. You will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver campaigns and public affairs strategies on a range of high profile issues, as well as grow the support of Barnardo’s network of campaign supporters.

You will coordinate project teams of staff across the UK, as well as external agencies, to deliver winning campaigns across a range of channels. And you’ll work closely with young people to ensure that the people we are campaigning on behalf of are at the heart of everything we do.

You’ll bring a strong understanding of legislative and parliamentary processes, as well as a track record of developing compelling campaigns that resonate with target audiences across paid, owned and earned media, using data and insights.

Knowledge of children’s issues will be helpful, but more important is having a campaigner’s mind-set, an eye for opportunities and a desire to be at the forefront of innovative campaigning techniques.

Closing date: 15 February 2017.
