Public and Government Affairs Manager
We are looking to recruit a Public and Government Affairs Manager within the Bank’s Policy team on a permanent basis or on a 2 year secondment for employees within the Civil Service, HM Treasury and the Bank of England.
This is an exciting, fast paced role within the Bank’s Policy team, which will also interface very closely with our Communications team. The Policy team ensures that the Bank operates effectively as a delivery arm of Government, which in turn will mean that it is well placed to play a leading role in the formation of policies that directly impact the provision of finance to SMEs. This role will be responsible for translating current policy positions and the performance of the Bank into clear, effective communication externally – whether through responding to Parliamentary questions, drafting presentations and speeches for senior management, or developing advice for Whitehall stakeholders.
Given the varied and fast-paced nature of the role, the successful applicant will also be required to undertake additional responsibilities, depending in part on Ministerial priorities. There may also be opportunities to work with colleagues in the Policy team and across the Bank on other projects.
The role will be based in our London office but the successful candidate will need to visit the Sheffield office periodically.
The British Business Bank is a unique and exciting new institution. Our objective is to make finance markets work better for UK small businesses. It was established in 2014 as a development bank for the UK managed independently from Government and under the governance of its own board of directors, with the aim of improving access to finance for small and medium sized businesses. We have around £4bn of capital resources and operate as a wholesale institution in a wide range of financial services markets ranging from bank lending to venture capital. Currently, we employ around 250 people, split between our two offices in London and our Sheffield office.
Please note all candidates applying for this role should have the right to work in the U.K.
Closes: 5 March 2018
