Head of Communications

DACS is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications expert with a proven track record of managing and leading the communications and public affairs function of a company. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to play a key strategic role in the next phase of the organisation’s development and to contribute to making a positive impact on the lives of thousands of artists and artists’ estates.

Founded over 30 years ago, DACS is the UK’s leading visual artists’ rights management organisation which represents over 100,000 artists worldwide. Committed to transforming the financial landscape for visual artists through innovative services and products, we act as a trusted broker for British and international artists and artists’ estates.

Reporting to the Business Development Director, the Head of Communications will be a key member of senior management team, with specific responsibility for shaping and directing DACS’ strategic communications and marketing activity in order to engage with new and existing audiences, build DACS’ external profile and networks, and manage DACS’ public affairs activity by promoting the interests of artists and artists’ estates to Government

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Lead and manage the Communications and Public Affairs functions, ensuring that DACS’ profile is continually enhanced as a leader in its field amongst artists and the artistic community.
  • Manage the stakeholder plan and events programme ensuring full engagement of all audiences DACS is trying to reach to further our overall objectives, vision and mission.

DACS is looking for a qualified communications specialist (BA in a relevant area or CIPR membership) with at least five years of post-qualification experience of developing and implementing communications strategy and delivering high quality written communications and PR strategies across multiple channels

We expect the successful candidate to have solid people and project management skills, to be a creative and strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully engaging and influencing stakeholders achieving positive outcomes and an ability to manage relationships across a diverse range of multiple stakeholders. The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
