Public Affairs Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Public Affairs Manager to join our busy and dynamic team. You will be responsible for delivering positive outcomes on a broad range of ‘business as usual’ issues as well as securing future growth. You will work at the heart of the Corporate Affairs team on integrated communications campaigns and with colleagues across all parts of the airport to inform and influence on a broad range of high profile issues.

Principal accountabilities

EU & UK: Political & Stakeholder relationship management & Profiling

  • Mapping and on-going profiling of Gatwick’s key European, Parliamentary and locally elected stakeholders, audiences and their constituencies
  • Maintaining relationship management and correspondence databases
  • Drafting of key local and national stakeholder correspondence and responses
  • Design and management of issue specific contact programmes for policy makers and liaison with media team on integrated campaigning
  • Drafting of briefing notes and profiles for meetings with senior political stakeholders
  • Supporting key business units with relevant outreach and to track and develop corporate responses to key legislative and public policy proposals
  • Attending meetings with key political and business stakeholders
  • Building relationships with local MPs and their offices
  • Building relationships with Members of the London Assembly

Political presence and monitoring

  • Working closely with Gatwick’s public affairs agency to track and monitor key political developments to inform the business and prioritise responses
  • Tracking opinion around key political and wider corporate issues
  • Working closely with broader communications team to utilise social media and other digital platforms for political campaigning purposes

Industry & National Business Organisation Relations: Representation and Monitoring

  • Representing Gatwick at conferences, seminars and events as required and tracking activity of key industry groups and events as assigned by the Head of Corporate Affairs
  • Representing Gatwick’s interests in industry groups including the Airport Operators Association, Sustainable Aviation, the CBI, the London Chamber of Commerce and London First.
  • Oversight of written input into public positions of key industry groups
