Director of Policy and Delivery
The NHS Partners Network is the trade association for the independent healthcare sector. Our members deliver a highly diverse range of clinical services to patients including hospital-based care, diagnostic imaging services, primary and community care, clinical home healthcare, dentistry and population health management. We provide practical support for our members in helping them to understand and influence the external regulatory and political environment, develop policy and advocacy positions to ensure members’ voice is heard at the highest levels and work with operators to ensure that the independent healthcare sector continues to deliver the highest possible level of care for patients.
We are part of the NHS Confederation which represents over 560 organisations involved in the planning and delivery of health and care services.
The Director of Policy and Delivery is a wide-ranging and senior role covering almost all aspects of NHSPN’s activities. Acting as number two to the Chief Executive, the Director of Policy and Delivery will be responsible for ensuring successful completion of the organisation’s annual business plan objectives, leading the team across all areas of policy, regulatory affairs, stakeholder management and external relations. The post-holder will be used to acting at Director level.
The Director will work closely with our members to lead policy and influencing programmes and will develop an excellent understanding of the issues which affect members. The Director will be expected to build relationships at a senior level across the health system and proactively identify opportunities to progress the sector’s interests. They will also take responsibility for ensuring that budget targets are met and will lead the team in identifying opportunities for generating commercial income.
The post involves line management of a small team of committed individuals covering policy, regulatory, research and external affairs and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record of influencing policy through various communications channels.
You will be a highly motivated and dedicated senior manager used to operating at Director level and come with a strong track record of delivery. You will have first rate communication skills, an extensive understanding of health policy, ideally with reference to the independent healthcare sector, and an in-depth understanding of the wider political and regulatory environment. You will be used to managing teams of staff and ensuring that staff are supported and challenged to deliver organisational objectives. You will also bring a sharp intellect and creative mind and be able to set and manage project and annual budgets.
