Ofgem seeks Policy Advisor

Our Energy Systems Division takes an end-to-end view of the energy marketplace, considering the markets, networks and institutions that all contribute to providing gas and electricity to consumers. Our objective is to identify synergies and opportunities within the system that can either be a support or a threat to investment in the sector, and sustainability of supply. This role will primarily focus on wholesale electricity markets, ensuring that regulatory policies work well in ensuring that the market functions effectively, and in the best interest of consumers. Your analysis will ensure that policy decisions are sound and evidence based, and you’ll ensure that these are communicated clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
We expect that you’ll be degree qualified or have an equivalent professional qualification and that you have experience of analysing quantitative and qualitative data to support policy decisions. Excellent communication skills, in person and in writing, are essential and you should be able establish positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders. A good team worker, you should also be able to work well independently and take personal responsibility for outcomes. And it’s important that you are well-organised to prioritise your workload and meet challenging deadlines across a varied workload.
