In the role of Public Affairs and Media Relations Manager you are responsible for managing and enhancing the Bank’s reputation on critical business issues with political and media stakeholders.

In the role you are accountable for:

Play a leading role in the management of stakeholders – political, trade and media – regarding Tesco Bank engagement on priority issues and campaigns, including the co-ordination of the Key Issues Tracker.

Lead and support the development and execution of major policy positions and core messaging, undertaking horizon scanning and working closely with senior internal stakeholders.

Support the Tesco Bank Leadership Team through policy insights, speech/presentation writing, and developing a senior-led political engagement plan.

Manage relationships with parliamentarians and respond to any requests for information.

Work with the wider Tesco government affairs and communications team to align activity with Tesco trust building objectives.

Act as duty press officer and deal with media requests as required.

Work with the whole Tesco Bank communications team to deliver creative campaigns that build engagement and trust with colleagues, customers and principal opinion formers.

Provide leadership to the communications function and act as counsel to the communications Leadership Team, as well as other senior leaders across the business.

Experience relevant for the role:

A good track-record of experience in public affairs and/or media with evidence of excellent stakeholder management.

Experience of delivering campaigns on high-profile issues.

Financial services experience is an added advantage but by no means a requirement.

Operational skills relevant for the role:

Confident leadership skills with a desire to build productive working relationships.

Outstanding communications skills with a keen interest to debate topical issues.

Strong understanding of the policy agenda with experience of managing politicians and the media.
