Virgin Care seeks PR & PA (External Affairs) Manager
PR & PA (External Affairs) Manager
At Virgin Care, we’ve created a working environment where everyone can really feel the difference – and this role is all about communicating the difference we’ve made in the communities we serve.
We’ve been supporting the NHS and local authorities for more than a decade, delivering health and social care services to millions of people with a unique approach. Our Public Relations and Public Affairs Manager will join our Communications team, based in London but working across the country, to help us communicate the difference we’ve made and tell stories of how we’ve done it.
It’s a hands-on role, part of our newly formed Public Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, Brand and Colleague Communications Team. The team supports our services with their communications needs, and is responsible for implementing the Communications Strategy across all of our channels. It’s a team of about 20 people, and you’ll be line manager to a team of 2.
You’ll help us grow, build and defend our reputation in the communities we serve and nationally, demonstrating the difference we bring and showing how we’ve delivered our purpose.
Day to day, you’ll define and scope our communications strategy, delivering to plan by providing reactive media management, overseeing a proactive PR programme around the services we deliver and providing leadership and oversight of our Citizens’ Panel engagement programmes.
Best suited to someone with a logical and methodical approach to work, the successful candidate will be someone who can quickly prioritise and adapt in a fast-changing and unpredictable environment, with an ability to be both logical, providing advice and counsel on difficult business decisions and creative, supporting and delivering campaigns.
You will have proven experience of managing External Affairs within the public or private sectors, ideally with experience of healthcare and an understanding of how Independent Sector providers work with the NHS.
A good understanding and interest in the political sphere of healthcare will be put to great use, and knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act, having experience of handling crisis communications, willing to learn and a willingness to engage in and support the PR strategy in the future are all useful.
But what’s in it for you? Well, we offer a competitive salary of £37,000 – 40,000, training and development, great perks including being part of the Virgin Tribe giving access to exclusive offers as well as discounts on Virgin products and services including 40% off Virgin Trains!
You’ll be based in our offices in Bloomsbury, a stone’s throw from Euston and Russell Square stations with the opportunity to work flexibly. Normal hours are 09:00-17:30, but travel, getting the job done and a need to respond to issues out of business hours means sometimes that will vary.
Closing Date: August 14th 10:59:00 PM
